Therefore, temperature can be measured as long as the resistance change of the temperature-sensing thermal resistor is detected. Currently, there are mainly two types: metal thermal resistors and semiconductor thermistors. The resistance value and temperature of metal thermal resistors can generally be expressed by the following approximate formula, while the temperature-resistance relationship of temperature-measuring resistors depends on the structural constants of the semiconductor material.

By comparison, thermistors have a larger temperature coefficient and higher resistance value at room temperature (usually above several thousand ohms). However, they have poor interchangeability, severe nonlinearity, and a narrow temperature measurement range of only about -50℃ to 300℃, so they are widely used in temperature detection and control of household appliances and automobiles. Temperature-measuring resistors are generally suitable for temperature measurement within the range of -200℃ to 500℃. They are characterized by high measurement accuracy, good stability and reliable performance, and are widely used in process control.
