Vulcanization Temperature and Pressure of Tape Vulcanizing Machines
Today, Wuxi Yikai Mining and Metallurgy Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will briefly discuss the vulcanization temperature and pressure of tape vulcanizing machines.
1. Vulcanization Temperature of Tape Vulcanizing Machines
The vulcanization temperature during the splicing process of tape vulcanizing machines refers to the optimal temperature for the vulcanization reaction of raw rubber under specific conditions. It is one of the key control parameters in the rubber vulcanization process. Due to challenges in on-site operations, such as poor working environments and conditions, and the difficulty in precisely controlling the vulcanization system of the rubber compound, the vulcanization temperature is generally maintained at 145 ± 5°C in most cases, both domestically and internationally.
2. Vulcanization Pressure of Tape Vulcanizing Machines
Vulcanization pressure is another critical condition for tape vulcanization splicing. It plays the following roles during the vulcanization process:
Enhances the density and adhesion between the core layer and the rubber compound, expelling internal gases and eliminating bubbles.
Promotes the flow of the rubber compound, allowing it to quickly fill the bonding surface of the core layer.
Improves the adhesive strength of the tape joint and the flex resistance of the tape.
The required vulcanization pressure depends on the properties of the rubber compound (primarily its plasticity), the product structure, and the process conditions. If the rubber compound has low flowability, higher vulcanization pressure is required; conversely, lower pressure suffices. For thicker tapes with multiple fabric layers (core layers) or complex structures, such as those with steel wire rope cores, higher vulcanization pressure is necessary.

Vulcanization pressure has minimal impact on the vulcanization speed and is generally not a major consideration. For on-site vulcanization splicing of canvas or nylon-core tapes, the recommended vulcanization pressure ranges from 0.8 to 1.2 MPa. Thinner tapes should use the lower end of this range, while thicker tapes require the higher end.
3. Vulcanization Time
The vulcanization bonding process requires a specific duration to complete. For canvas or nylon-core tapes, the vulcanization time can be calculated using the following formula:
T = Tzh + (i + δ)K
Where:
T = Vulcanization time (minutes)
Tzh = Optimal vulcanization time of the rubber compound, generally set at 15 minutes
